How to play Plinko Birds: a step-by-step guide

Plinko Birds by Vortex Games takes about five minutes to learn: you pick a bet per bird, choose a flock size and launch. This guide walks through every step using the official game rules. If you learn better by doing, open the free demo and follow along.

Diagram of the Plinko Birds field: the cannon on the left, the peg grid in the air and the tower on the right with 10 slots, a wooden upper half with 40 HP and a stone lower half with 129 HP
The playing field: the cannon fires from the left, birds fly through the pegs and hit the tower with its 10 slots.

Step 1: pick your bet per bird

The bet is set per bird, from $0.01 to $10 (available values: 0.01 / 0.05 / 0.10 / 0.25 / 0.50 / 1 / 2 / 3 / 5 / 7 / 9 / 10). The total round bet is the bet per bird multiplied by the flock size. Starting at the minimum makes sense: the mechanics do not change with the stake.

One detail worth knowing from the start: wall damage progress (HP) is stored separately for each bet level. If you switch bets, the game loads that level's wall state, and switching back restores exactly the progress you left.

Step 2: choose your flock size

There are four options: 10, 20, 50 or 100 birds. In money terms, the cheapest round is $0.10 (10 birds at $0.01) and the biggest is $1,000 (100 birds at $10). The bigger the flock, the closer the round result sits to the average: you will almost certainly clip the outer slots now and then, and fully empty rounds become rare.

    Step 3: fire the flock

The cannon on the left fires the birds at the tower. On the way, each bird bounces through 9 rows of pegs, deflecting up or down at random on every row. That is why the slots in the middle of the tower take hits constantly while the outer ones (the very top and the very bottom) are rare. Every bird strikes one of 10 slots: 1 to 5 sit on the tower's wooden half and 6 to 10 on the stone half. Multipliers are symmetric: 40x at the edges, then 3.90x, 1.10x, 0.30x and 0.20x in the middle. Each hit pays out instantly, without waiting for the rest of the flock.

Hit distribution in Plinko Birds: the central slots of the tower receive most birds while the outer 40x slots are hit rarely
Hit frequency per slot: the middle pays little but takes most birds; the edges pay 40x but are touched rarely.

Step 4: break walls and ride the bonuses

The tower has two sections: the upper one is the Wooden Wall and the lower one the Stone Wall. Every bird that hits the tower takes 1 HP off the wall of its section. Destroying the Wooden Wall (40 HP) triggers a x2 bonus on slots 1 to 5 for 20 hits. Destroying the Stone Wall (129 HP) triggers a x10 bonus on slots 6 to 10 for 10 hits, and the outer slot pays 400x at that moment, the game's maximum. Both bonuses can run at the same time, each wall keeps its own counter, and during any active bonus there are no losing slots: every slot pays at least your bet per bird.
